YSL Lip Stain

While at the Trend Show I heard about the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis which is advertised as a lip stain and gloss all in one.  The wonderful ladies at the YSL counter quickly applied #26 Violine Surrealiste since I am loving the bright color trends out right now.  I absolutely LOVE this color which is a deep pink with a hint of purple.  I love that it is a pop of color without being over the top!  I have found that if I apply this color first thing in the morning, it does last for quite a few hours.  The first coat is sheer and once I apply a second coat I get a deeper shade.

FYI- I have been seeing some ads for L'Oreal's Colour Caresse Wet Shine.  It looks to be the same product- the applicator is even identical!  I am interested in trying this product out to see how similar the two are...

***I am only previewing the lipstick.  I have NO other makeup on in these pics***

Laura Mercier Haul

While at the Nordstrom Trend show I ended up getting my makeup done at Laura Mercier.  Jill, the artist doing my makeup, was first showing me the compact foundation and after doing my entire face, I ended up walking away with a slew of goodies!  I am loving the foundations.  It gives great coverage and wears well throughout the day.  I the eye shadows wear well and the Mango lipstick is a fantastic color for spring/summer. The black eyeliner, accelerator, and brush have taken some getting use to.  I like the liner and it lasts ALL day but I have had some trouble with the brush.  I seem to do better with my angled MAC brush but I will continue to try the straight brush and see if with practice I do better.  You will see my before makeup and after make up pictures below.  Note- I have no blush on.  I wanted to feature only Laura Mercier.
(YIKES!)

***Amazing what some foundation and lipstick can do!***

Nordstrom Freebies!

I have been so crazy busy (no pun intended) lately with work and activities with my kids that I have had no time to post.  I wanted to show you all of the fun freebies that I received the day of the trend show.  As I mentioned before, when you attend the show, you receive a $20 gift certificate and a bunch of freebies.  If you are anything like me, I LOVE me some freebies!  I absolutely love the bag which is a great color for the spring and I am very excited to try out some of the perfumes.

Nordstrom Trend Show

Up until six months ago I had never heard of The Trend Show.  While out with my girlfriend Marie, I learned about this event and I quickly knew that I HAD to attend!
This event is filled with fashion, makeup and skincare...any of the HOTTEST trends of the season!  When you attend, you have to be prepared to get there early.  I arrived there this morning around 7:10 and quickly got in line.  The doors open at 7:30 where you receive your Nordstrom gift card (today it was worth $20- the cost of your admission), an adorable tote bag filled with 2 bottles of water, tons of samples, an entry form, a small pencil, and the program for the actual show.  After getting seats for the show, we grabbed some snacks (coffee, fruit, pastries, granola bars, etc.) and prepared for the show to begin.  As you will see from the photos below the fashion trends this spring are black & white and pops of color such as coral and turquoise.  There were also presentations from the reps for Philosophy, MAC, Laura Mercie, YSL, Clinique, Clarisonic, Smashbox, and TONS others!

I will will post shortly about the freebies I received at the show and some of the fantastic purchases I made!

Zoya Load

Just after the new year there was a sale on the Zoya site: get three polishes free, just pay $10 for shipping.  As far as I am concerned, a little over $3 for polish (especially good polish) is an awesome deal!  After perusing the overwhelming website I picked three colors: Opal, Juno, and Gretchen.  Opal is irridescent top coat with hints of green and blue.  I used it the other day over my Revlon minty polish and it is fantastic!  It gave the already green polish a hint of glitz and sparkle.  I don't feel that the picture taken with my cell phone does this polish justice!

***Don't mind the sheet marks...I fell asleep after putting on the last coat of polish.

The Juno polish is a deep metallic purple polish.  In two coats I had a nice true purple shade!

I decided on the Gretchen polish because I do not have any nude polish in my massive polish arsenal!

Happy Earth Day and Zoya

I have for as long as I can remember had a love of nail color and makeup.  I have within the last few years fell in love with Zoya polishes and I am constantly on the look out for their polishes when they are on sale.  Well low and behold they are running a special earth day sale!!!  Their polishes are 1/2 off and you can send them your old polishes (I'm sure I have a few of those lying around) which they will dispose of properly!  I think that I will have to partake in this deal since it is not often you can get thier polishes for $4 a piece!  From reading the fine print it looks like you have to buy 6 polishes but that is really no big deal to me- if need be I will buy extras as gifts or split the deal with a friend!

Check out Zoya's site here!
